Barbara considers herself to be an experimental artist and is often surprised and delighted in the path where the free-flow creative process takes her. She is guided by her love for textures, the vibrancy or matte of color and the way in which found objects, encaustics, acrylics and collage unite to tell a story or convey a mood.
Painting is a passion and allows her spirit to indulge in adventure, fun and drama.
She has taught workshops in mixed-media in Edmonton and Calgary and also at the Chuck MacLean Arts Center in Camrose for both adults and children, and also out of her home studio. Her intention is to help others discover what is simmering inside themselves, bring it forefront onto the canvas and thus release a colorful representation of where they are in that specific moment of their life.
Barbara has displayed her work at the CAVA Gallery (Centre d’arts visuels de l’Alberta) , with the Arts Society of Strathcona County (ASSC), Kaleido Festivals, The Carrot, Concordia College and for the Visual Arts Alberta Fundraiser Auction. She has shown paintings recently in the Misericordia Hospital, The Grey Nun’s Hospital, the Blue Curve Gallery at the Glenrose Hospital and at the After Hours Gallery in the University Hospital.
She is a member of the Art Society of Strathcona County.
